Key Programs

The Reading Clubs Program is designed to cultivate a strong reading culture among government school students, especially children from first-generation learner families who have limited access to books and learning resources at home. The program aims to improve reading fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills, which are foundational to overall academic success. Reading Clubs function as safe, engaging spaces within schools or community centers where children regularly participate in guided reading sessions, storytelling, group discussions, read-aloud activities, and library hours. Age-appropriate books in local languages and English are provided to encourage interest and inclusivity. Teachers, facilitators, and trained volunteers mentor students and track reading progress through simple assessments and reading logs. Creative activities such as book reviews, role plays, and reading challenges help build confidence and communication skills. By nurturing a joyful reading habit at an early age, the Reading Clubs strengthen foundational literacy, reduce learning gaps, and foster lifelong learners among government school children.

Success Stories

Lakshmi (name changed), a 10-year-old student studying in a government primary school, was struggling with basic reading and mathematics. Coming from a first-generation learner family, she had no academic support at home and often felt discouraged in class. Her teachers noted low participation and frequent mistakes, which affected her confidence. Lakshmi joined our After-School Education Support Program, where she received remedial teaching, personalized attention, and a structured learning routine. Through regular practice, activity-based learning, and encouragement from mentors, her reading fluency and numeracy skills gradually improved. Within six months, Lakshmi began reading simple paragraphs independently and showed confidence in solving basic math problems. Her school attendance improved, classroom participation increased, and she now aspires to become a teacher. Lakshmi’s journey reflects how after-school support can bridge learning gaps, rebuild confidence, and help children realize their potential.
