Akhil Gramin Yuva Vikas Samiti (AGYVS), established in 1975, is one of Bihar's premier NGOs dedicated to empowering marginalized communities. For nearly five decades, AGYVS has worked to mainstream these communities through social and economic development, improving living conditions, education, health, leadership, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods.
he Kushal Yuva Program (KYP) is a flagship initiative of the Bihar Skill Development Mission (BSDM) aimed at equipping the youth of Bihar with essential employability skills. The program is designed for candidates who have passed at least the 10th class and fall within the prescribed age limits (15–28 years, with relaxations for SC/ST, OBC, and PwD).
KYP provides structured training in three key modules: Life Skills, Communication Skills (English & Hindi), and Basic Computer Literacy. These modules are delivered through standardized digital content and trained facilitators across designated training centers in Bihar.
The program seeks to bridge the gap between formal education and industry requirements by enhancing confidence, communication abilities, and digital competence. It complements sector-specific skill development programs, ensuring that candidates are not only technically trained but also prepared for real-world employment challenges.
By fostering self-reliance and adaptability, KYP empowers the youth of Bihar to pursue opportunities in both the organized job market and entrepreneurial ventures, contributing to the state’s vision of inclusive growth and skill-driven development.

Impact
The project “A Path to Sustainable Growth”, implemented from December 2024 to March 2025 with support from IIFL Samasta Finance Ltd., has created a significant and lasting impact on rural communities in Muzaffarpur, Bihar.
1. Improved Community Safety and Mobility
Installation of 100 solar street lights enhanced visibility in villages, reducing accidents and cases of theft.
Women and children now feel safer moving around after dark, enabling access to evening education, healthcare, and community gatherings.
2. Strengthening Digital Education
5 digital education panels were set up in government schools, directly benefitting over 1,200 students.
Teachers reported improved classroom engagement and learning outcomes due to interactive teaching tools.
Rural children are now exposed to modern learning methods, bridging the digital divide.
3. Reliable Healthcare Services
10 solar inverter systems were installed in Public Health Centers/Sub-centers.
Healthcare delivery improved with uninterrupted power supply for critical equipment like vaccine storage, diagnostic machines, and lighting during emergencies.
Over 15,000 rural patients benefitted from reliable healthcare access during the project period.
4. Environmental Sustainability
By promoting solar-based solutions, the project reduced dependence on diesel generators and irregular electricity supply.
Estimated reduction of 50 tons of CO₂ emissions annually, contributing to climate action goals.
5. Community Empowerment & Inclusion
The project promoted inclusive growth, ensuring marginalized communities such as women, children, and low-income families gained equitable access to clean energy, quality education, and healthcare.
Community members reported a greater sense of ownership and pride in sustainable development initiatives.
