My name is Amit Kumar Sharma, and my journey with animals began five years ago, during COVID, when countless cows and other animals were starving on the streets. I was working in the IT sector then, but seeing their suffering changed the direction of my life. My wife, Shweta Sharma, stood beside me from the beginning, and together we started rescuing animals long before our Gaushala was officially registered on 31st August 2024.

What We Do: More Than Just a Gaushala

What started with saving one cow has now become the Shri Kapilaksham Desi Nandi Gaushala Foundation.

Today, we rescue and care for cows, bulls, calves, monkeys, camels, horses, and cats.

Every day, 10+ new cases come to us; road accidents, abandoned animals, sick calves, or even trafficking victims.

We are not just caregivers; we also fight animal trafficking and have saved many animals from brutal transport.

Our small team of 5–10 members and many volunteers work around the clock, responding to every call, no matter how late or how difficult.

Our Struggles Behind the Scenes

Until now, everything we have built; every rescue, every treatment, every meal, every shed; has been managed from our personal savings. But as the number of animals increases, the challenges around us increase even faster. There are days when fodder runs so low that we have to stretch every handful just to make sure no animal sleeps hungry. Medical bills come back-to-back, and we often have to buy medicines on credit because the animals cannot wait. During the rainy season, water leaks through the old shed roofs, and we rush to shift injured or sick animals to a safer corner. Many times, surgeries are needed urgently, and we have no option but to arrange money then and there. My wife Shweta and I have skipped our own meals many times so that these innocent beings could eat first. We left behind a luxurious and comfortable life to serve them and though we are happy doing this work, the truth is we can no longer bear these rising responsibilities alone.

Why We Need You Now

Our dream is to build a Gaushala where not a single rescued animal ever feels hunger, fear, or pain again. But to make that possible, we need support. Your help will allow us to buy daily fodder in sufficient quantity, repair and build stronger sheds that protect animals during heat, cold, and rain, and arrange proper medical facilities so that injured animals receive immediate treatment. It will also help us rescue more animals from trafficking trucks and dangerous road accidents. With your support, we can ensure that every cow, bull, calf, monkey, camel, horse, or cat that reaches us receives clean water, nutritious food, and safe shelter.

These animals cannot speak, but their eyes express everything; their hunger, their fear, their gratitude, and their hope. When I look into their eyes, I see trust. I see innocence. And I feel a responsibility far bigger than myself. My wife and I have dedicated our lives to them, and we will continue to do so as long as we live.
