The day we found him, he was lying helplessly on the roadside after a terrible accident. His leg was completely crushed, and he was crying in pain while people walked past him. We could not ignore him. We rushed him to the hospital, and after examination, the doctors told us that a major surgery was required and a metal plate had to be inserted in his leg to save it. The total bill came to ₹75,000. At that time, we had not raised any funds. There was no campaign, no outside support. But we decided that his life mattered more than anything else. We paid the entire ₹75,000 from our own pockets, and today, that same dog is able to stand and walk again. Seeing him recover reminded us why we chose this path.
My name is Rajnish Agrawal, and along with three of my close friends, I have been serving street animals for the past 1.5+ years. What started as a simple act of feeding one or two hungry dogs slowly turned into a daily mission. We realised that these voiceless souls were not just hungry for food but also for care, protection, and compassion.
Every day, after finishing our regular work, the four of us come together again in the evening. While others head home to rest, we begin our second responsibility of the day. We prepare food, pack two big bags filled with meals, and step out into the streets of Maninagar, Godhasar, and Naspur. We walk lane by lane, making sure no dog or cat is left hungry. Today, we are feeding more than 110 dogs and cats daily, and each one recognises our voice and waits for us.
Our work does not stop at feeding. We actively focus on sterilisation and deworming because we believe in long-term change and healthier street animal populations. Whenever we find an injured, sick, or accident-hit animal, we immediately arrange treatment. Even though we do not have our own shelter, we coordinate with nearby shelters and clinics to ensure they get proper medical attention and a safe place to recover.
There have been many emergencies like the accident cases of wounds, infections, fractures, and critical conditions that require urgent care. Each time, we try our best to manage the expenses ourselves. But feeding over 110 animals daily and covering medical treatments, surgeries, medicines, and transportation costs is becoming increasingly challenging for just four individuals.
Today, I am reaching out with hope. Your small contribution can fill an empty bowl, support life-saving treatment, and protect a voiceless life. We are not a big organisation, just four friends trying to make sure that in our areas, compassion never runs out. With your support, we can continue this mission and ensure that no street animal suffers without help.
