626 Lives Lost. Nearly 2,500 People Still Missing. Entire Villages Gone.

On the morning of August 26, 2026, a glacier collapsed high in the Himalayas near Nepal's border with China. Within 30 minutes, the Trishuli River rose 9 metres. A wall of water, ice and mud tore through Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts, swallowing homes, bridges, and roads before anyone had time to run.

The Situation Today

  • 626 confirmed dead in Nepal, 7 in Tibet
  • Nearly 2,500 people missing, including 500+ foreigners from 32 countries
  • 720 homes destroyed, 2,153 more damaged
  • 26,000+ animals killed: cattle, buffaloes, goats
  • A dozen bridges and 6 hydropower plants destroyed
  • 17,000 children affected; 10,000 households need immediate relief
  • A second glacial lake has formed and could burst, threatening a new flood

What We're Hearing From the Ground

In Nuwakot, Kalpana Malla watched her parents and sister's family swept away in an instant. Nearby, Goma Pandit lost her cattle, her farmland, and all her stored grain. "Nothing is left," she said. The Red Cross reports demand for body bags has been "very high", and thousands are now living in relief camps with nothing but what they carried out.

Families Urgently Need

  • Emergency shelter and tents
  • Clean drinking water and purification supplies
  • Food parcels
  • Medical care and trauma support
  • Help reuniting children separated from their families

A Small Act of Kindness, at the Right Moment

Rescue teams are still searching. A second flood could still hit the same valley. Families who had homes, farmland, and animals four days ago now have almost nothing, and they need help before the next monsoon rain or the next glacial lake breach makes things worse.

Your support can put a tent over a family sleeping in the open, clean water in the hands of a child at risk of disease, or a hot meal in a relief camp tonight.

No contribution is too small to matter: it goes straight to families who cannot wait.

Please give what you can today, and share this campaign with others.

Nepal cannot rebuild alone but together, we can help these families take their first steps back toward home.
