Help Lakshya Trust Put Every Child in School in Modinagar & Meerut

Lakshya Paathshala is transforming the lives of children who were once forgotten; rag-pickers, child laborers, and kids living in urban slums with no access to education. Run by Lakshya Trust, the school has helped over 1000 children in the last 10 years, giving them not just an education, but dignity, dreams, and a real chance at life.

Now, Lakshya needs your support to reach every child in need across Modinagar and Meerut.

From One Balcony to a Movement

When Neelu, a BTech student at SRM University in Modinagar, first looked out from her hostel balcony in 2010, she didn’t see children playing. She saw children rummaging through garbage. Children with no school, no books, no future.

What began with her teaching a few kids outside her hostel has now grown into Lakshya Paathshala; a school that has helped 1,039 children, of which 678 have been successfully enrolled in top schools in Modinagar, Muradnagar, Pilkhuwa, and Meerut.

In 2015, I teamed up with the NGO Lakshya to create a solution. We opened Lakshya Paathshala, where we’ve been working to provide underprivileged children in Modinagar and nearby areas with an education that can break the cycle of poverty.

Here’s how we do it:

1. We enroll kids between the ages of 4 and 18 who have never been to school.
2. We work on their basic education, getting them up to age-appropriate levels.
3. Once they’re ready, we enroll them in regular schools, ensuring they integrate smoothly into the formal education system.
4. We work with local schools to waive fees, and cover other expenses like books, uniforms, and transportation.

We started with just 17 kids, and now we’ve helped over 1,000 children. 678 of them are now enrolled in some of the best schools in the region, attending classes they never thought were possible.

What We Need:

Our work is far from over. The task ahead is huge, but we are determined to ensure that every single child in Modinagar and Meerut is in school. However, we need your help to make this happen.

Our Goal:

1. Ensure every child in Modinagar and Meerut is enrolled in school within the next two years.
2. Provide a safe and nurturing environment for kids to thrive academically and personally.
3. Improve educational standards and offer support through extra tutoring for students who need it most.

How You Can Help:

1. Expand our space – Right now, we’re working out of a small rented two-floor building that’s already full. We need more room to help more children.
2. Hire good teachers – We want to bring in passionate, caring teachers who truly want to make a difference in these kids’ lives.
3. Give extra learning support – Many children need tutoring so they can not only stay in school but do well and feel confident.
4. Provide the basics – Things like school uniforms, books, and transportation are essential—and we want to make sure every child has what they need.

"Sometimes it feels that we have covered quite some distance; very next moment, when we look forward towards the journey ahead, the feeling gets upside down and the task seems huge. But never in these ten years has there been a single moment when the task seemed impossible."
