Story

Seven tiny souls. Not even a month old.

On a freezing winter night, they were taken away from their mother and dumped like they didn’t matter. No blanket, no warmth, no milk – just the cold ground and darkness. They cried the whole night, but no one came.

When no authority and no one else stepped forward, we went. We picked them up, one by one, shivering, scared, and still searching for their mother.

Today, they are safe, but we know this is only temporary. A shelter is not a home. They still huddle together for warmth. They still cry in their sleep. They are at an age where they should be close to their mother, not struggling to survive. If they are sent back to the streets, their chances are very low; infections, hunger, accidents, and diseases can take away their lives before they even get a chance to grow.

Across our streets, there are hundreds of animals who survive each day only because someone chooses to care. Many of them are left to deal with hunger, thirst, and injuries on their own, without any support system.

We are the Avisha Foundation, a small volunteer-led effort started by a group of five families who decided to step in and help. What began as a small initiative has now grown into a daily responsibility, where more and more animals depend on us for their basic needs.

Today, we feed over 250 stray dogs every single day. Along with this, we provide green fodder for cows and nandis who often struggle to find food on the streets. During the harsh summer months, we also install cemented water pots at different locations to ensure that animals have access to clean drinking water.

However, maintaining these water pots is an ongoing challenge. They need to be refilled regularly through water tanker services, and many of them require replacement due to constant use and wear and tear. Ensuring a steady supply of water during extreme heat becomes both important and resource-intensive.

In addition to this daily work, we also respond to emergency rescue calls, often late at night. These include cases of injured, sick, or accident-hit animals who need immediate help. Each rescue involves veterinary consultation, medicines, and proper medical treatment, which adds to the overall expenses.

So far, all of this work has been managed by just five families who have been doing their best to support these efforts. However, with the increasing number of animals and rising medical emergencies, it is becoming difficult to sustain this work without external support.

Through this fundraiser, we are seeking help to continue our efforts. The funds will be used for daily feeding of stray dogs, providing fodder for cows and nandis, installation and maintenance of water pots during summer, and emergency rescue and veterinary treatment.

Your support can directly make a difference in the lives of these animals who have no voice and no safety net. Even a small contribution can help ensure that a hungry animal gets food, a thirsty animal finds water, and an injured animal receives timely care.

We request you to support and share this fundraiser so that we can continue caring for these voiceless lives.
