Story

My name is Manish Kumar Awasthi. I am 34 years old, a father to a three-year-old daughter, and a husband who simply wants to live long enough to see his family smile. I belong to Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, and until a few years ago, my life was simple and full of small dreams. But in 2022, both of my kidneys failed, and since then, every single day has become a fight for survival.

I am currently undergoing treatment at Regency Renal Sciences Centre, Kanpur, where doctors have clearly certified that I am a kidney transplant patient who requires lifelong medical treatment, regular nephrologist consultations, continuous investigations, and daily immunosuppressant medicines. My medical reports state that my monthly treatment cost is approximately ₹16,000, which means nearly ₹1,92,000 every year just to stay alive. Doctors have also advised further critical investigations, including a biopsy, to monitor my condition closely.

Because of my fragile health, I am unable to work consistently. My father works in a loha plant, doing physically demanding labour despite his age. My mother is no more, and my 29-year-old brother works as a daily wage labourer. We are a financially struggling family, and there is no stable source of income. Whatever little comes in is consumed by my medicines, hospital visits, and basic household needs. The burden is becoming heavier with each passing month.

I was married in 2018, and my daughter was born with dreams in her eyes. She is too young to understand what kidney failure means. She only knows that her father sometimes feels weak and cannot lift her the way he used to. Every time she holds my finger, I silently pray for more time – more time to see her grow, to protect her, and to guide her through life.

A kidney transplant is not the end of the struggle; it is the beginning of a lifelong commitment to strict medication and regular medical supervision. Missing even a few doses can put my life at serious risk. The constant fear of complications, infections, and rejection makes every day uncertain. Yet I continue to stay strong for my family.

Today, I am folding my hands and asking for your support. Your contribution will directly help me continue my essential medicines, follow-up consultations, and life-saving investigations at Regency Hospital, Kanpur. Every small or big donation will reduce the burden on my ageing father and give me a fighting chance to live.

I do not want to give up. I want to live for my daughter. I want to stand beside my family. Please help me continue this battle. Your kindness can give me hope, strength, and the precious gift of time.
