Story

My name is Shankar Reddy Jampala and through the Rural Physically Handicapped Centre For Rehabilitation, we have been working closely with vulnerable communities across Chittoor District. Over the years, I have witnessed many difficult realities, but one that continues to affect me deeply is the quiet and invisible struggle of hunger in our villages.

In many rural areas of Chittoor, daily wage labourers, elderly individuals living alone, persons with disabilities, and women-led households struggle to secure even one proper meal a day. Limited employment opportunities, irregular agricultural income, and rising living costs have made life extremely difficult for these families. For many of them, basic food items like rice, pulses, and cooking oil are not guaranteed every day.

During our visits to villages and small settlements, we often meet families who are surviving on very little food. Sometimes elderly people skip meals so that children in the house can eat. In other cases, women dilute rice with water just to make it last another day. These experiences remind us that hunger is still a harsh reality for thousands of people in rural communities.

To respond to this urgent need, our organisation has started a Dry Ration Distribution Program for vulnerable families in rural Chittoor. Through this initiative, we aim to provide monthly ration kits to at least 500 poor households, ensuring they have access to essential food supplies. Each ration kit will include rice, pulses, cooking oil, and other basic groceries that can support a family for several weeks.

Our team works closely with local community leaders, volunteers, and grassroots groups to identify the most deserving beneficiaries. We conduct household surveys to understand the needs of each family and ensure that support reaches elderly individuals without family support, persons with disabilities, women-headed households, and extremely poor families.

The goal of this initiative is not only to distribute food but also to improve food security, reduce the risk of malnutrition, and support the dignity of vulnerable communities. With consistent support, this programme can reach thousands of individuals every year, helping them live with greater stability and hope.

However, we cannot do this alone. The need is far greater than the resources we currently have. With your support, we can expand this programme and ensure that hundreds of struggling families receive regular food assistance.

Your contribution can help us purchase ration supplies, manage distribution logistics, and reach more villages where hunger continues to affect everyday life.

Together, we can ensure that no family in Chittoor has to sleep hungry.
