“My name is Sunjan Devi. This is my son, Babu. He has been sick since he was 12 years old; often fainting and falling unconscious. When we took him to the doctor, they said there is a 12mm hole in his heart, and that he needs an operation. If I could give him my own heart, I would, but I can’t. My husband earns very little, we are poor people… where will we get that much money for his treatment?”
She pauses, holding back tears and adds softly,
“You can come and see our house… you’ll understand how we live. We just want our son to survive.”

The Father’s Helplessness
“I don’t want my poverty to decide my son’s fate.” – Jayprakash, Father
Babu’s father, works as a small farmer and daily wage laborer. With just one or two kathas of land, he grows whatever little he can. Some seasons, the crops fail, and the family has no income at all. He himself is not in good health, yet he keeps working, because his family depends entirely on him.
With trembling hands, he says,
“We are poor people. I have never seen or earned such a big amount in my life. But now, I have no choice; I must save my child. He is my eldest son… he always wanted to go to school and play with his friends. Now he just sits at home, looking out the window. It breaks our hearts to see him like this. I am begging everyone, please help me give my son a better life.”

A Young Boy’s Wish to Live
“I have a hole in my heart… I just want to get better.” – Babu Saheb
With a faint voice and innocent eyes, Babu Saheb tries to speak about his illness.
“I have a hole in my heart,” he says softly. “I want to get treated and go back to school. I want to play with my friends again. Please help me get better soon.”
It’s painful for his parents to hear their child say these words; a child who once dreamed of studying and building a better future for his family, now forced to fight for his own life.

Their Struggle and Hope
Babu’s condition requires urgent surgery, and doctors have advised shifting him to a private hospital for proper treatment. The total cost is estimated to be ₹12 to ₹15 lakh, far beyond what the family can afford.
Despite their poverty, they are trying everything, borrowing small amounts, asking relatives for help, but it’s not enough. The government hospital cannot perform the surgery he needs, and time is running out.
“Every day my son asks when he’ll get better,” says his father. “And I have no answer.”
