Urgent Appeal: Support Families Affected by Chamoli Cloudburst in Uttarakhand

On August 22, 2025, a devastating cloudburst struck Tharali in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, leaving behind widespread destruction. In just minutes, raging floods of water, mud, and debris swept through the town burying homes, shops, and vehicles under rubble. Families fled in panic as marketplaces and villages were swept away.

A woman lost her life in the tragedy, while another remains missing. In Sagwara village, a young woman is still trapped under debris as desperate rescue teams continue their efforts. Roads are blocked, bridges are damaged, and entire stretches of the valley have been cut off.

Local authorities along with NDRF and SDRF teams are working tirelessly, but continuous rainfall and heavy debris are making rescue operations extremely difficult. With the IMD issuing an orange alert for Chamoli and nearby districts, the danger is still not over.
