Story

Every year, 3.5 million babies in India are born prematurely; the highest number in the world.

Prematurity is now the leading cause of newborn deaths, claiming over 300,000 tiny lives every year. Many of these babies could survive; if only they received the right care at the right time.

Behind each number is a heartbroken parent; a mother watching her baby struggle inside an incubator, a father standing outside counting borrowed money, praying it’s enough for one more day of oxygen.

Why Are So Many Babies Born Too Soon?

  1. Poor maternal health & malnutrition: 50% of pregnant women in India are anaemic.
  2. Early marriages and adolescent pregnancies.
  3. Inadequate antenatal care - many mothers never see a doctor until delivery.
  4. Lack of neonatal intensive care (NICU): Only 1 in 4 districts has proper facilities.
  5. High treatment costs: A single NICU stay can cost ₹1–5 lakh, pushing families into debt or forcing them to abandon treatment.

The Pain of Helpless Parents

For most parents, the birth of a child is pure joy.

But for the parents of a premature baby, that joy turns into fear within seconds.

They hold a baby so tiny; barely 1.5 kg, struggling to breathe inside an incubator. Every beep of the monitor feels like a heartbeat of hope and terror combined. Then comes the line no parent should ever hear:

“Your baby can live… but you’ll have to arrange the money.”

In that moment, time stops. Some parents sell everything they own: their jewellery, their home, their future.

Some take loans they can never repay, some lose what matters most.

We Can Change This

No baby should die because their parents are poor.

No parent should have to choose between saving their child and surviving themselves.

Join the movement: Tiny Fighters.

Together, we can make sure every premature baby gets the care they deserve.

How You Can Help

Donate: Every contribution supports emergency NICU care for premature babies in need.

Sponsor: Help one family cover the cost of treatment, medicines, and hospital stay.

Raise Awareness: Share their stories; speak about premature births and the crisis of care.

Advocate: Demand better healthcare; maternal nutrition, neonatal ICUs, and government support in every district.

They came into this world too soon, but with your help: not too small to survive.

Let’s stand together for the tiniest hearts, before they stop beating.
