Story

My name is Vijay Thorat, and I never imagined I’d be writing something like this. My sister, Vaishnavi, is just 21 years old, the youngest in our family, full of energy, always smiling, and the one who held us all together.

She used to help our mother, who works as a housemaid, take care of our handicapped father, and still manage her college studies. She was our strength; the one who always said, “One day, things will be better for us.” But today, she is lying in the hospital, unable to move, her body covered in wounds.

The Night That Stole Everything

On Diwali night, she went with her friends for Devi Darshan. She was so excited; she even told me she’d bring prasad for everyone at home. But that night turned into a nightmare.

Around 11 PM, on her way back, a speeding car hit her and ran away. When I got the call, I didn’t believe it. When I reached the hospital, I couldn’t even recognise her; she was covered in blood, her face swollen, and her body completely broken.

That one moment… it changed our whole world.

Fighting for Her Life

The doctors at Sunshine Superspeciality Hospital, Amravati said her condition is very serious. She has multiple fractures in her clavicle, humerus, femur, and tibia, and a severe head injury. They have already done major surgeries, and she’s still in the ICU, fighting every single day.

Doctors told us she will take at least 2–3 months just to recover and 1–2 years before she can walk again. Hearing that shattered me. My sister, who couldn’t sit still for a minute, now lies in bed motionless.

A Brother’s Cry of Helplessness

I am trying to be strong, but the truth is; I’m breaking inside. I have only one sister, and seeing her in this condition is unbearable.

We are very poor. My mother goes from house to house cleaning, my father is handicapped, and I earn only ₹10,000–₹15,000 a month. I can’t even pay for her medicines, forget the hospital bills. But I can’t give up; she is all we have.

Every day when I see her lying there, I just hold her hand and whisper, “Please get up, Vaishnavi. We are all waiting for you.”

The Weight of Medical Bills

The hospital has estimated the cost of Vaishnavi’s treatment at ₹6,47,000, which includes surgeries, ICU charges, implants, anesthesia, medicines, and weeks of hospital care. For a family like us, already struggling to survive, this amount feels impossible.

My mother works as a housemaid. My father, handicapped and unwell, can do little. Every passing day adds not only to our financial burden but to our fear; fear that we might lose our daughter simply because we cannot afford her treatment.

Let’s Help Vaishnavi Walk Again

Vaishnavi was once a bubbly, caring daughter who dreamed of a simple life; helping our parents, finishing her studies, and standing on her own feet. Today, she is fighting to even open her eyes without pain.

As a family we are doing everything we can, but cannot do this alone.

Your support, no matter how small; can give her the chance to heal, to recover, to live.

Please stand with Vaishnavi. Help her fight this battle.

Every contribution, every share, every prayer will bring her closer to walking again, and to bringing light back into the life that was shattered on that fateful  Diwali night.
