My name is Asha Upadhay and I am writing this with a mother’s trembling hands. On 16th September 2025, my 23-year-old son Rishav met with a devastating road accident near Siliguri. Within minutes, our life turned into a nightmare. At Desun Hospital, the doctors told me my son had diffuse axonal brain injury, polytrauma, cardiac arrest, a left clavicle fracture, lung infection with sepsis, and needed tracheostomy and ventilation to survive.
I stood outside the ICU crying, begging the doctors,
“Please save my child… I have only one son.”
He Was Always So Responsible… That Day He Left in a Hurry
Rishav has always been a responsible and caring boy. He worked at a Maruti showroom for three years, helping me run our small family in Jalpaiguri and supporting his sister in every way he could. He was always mindful and disciplined, but that day he had stepped out in a hurry for an urgent matter, and within 10 minutes, I received the call that turned my world upside down; my son had met with a serious accident and was critically injured.
Everyone in our neighbourhood says, “He is such a good boy… how could this happen to him?”
As a mother, my heart asks the same question every single day.

We Tried Everything… But We Couldn’t Afford the Hospital Anymore
Rishav was admitted on 16/9/25, and his treatment was covered under his ESI. But when the ESI ended, the hospital insisted on discharge even though he was still unconscious. We brought him home on 6/10/25, praying he would improve.
When his condition didn’t get better, we admitted him again to Thalamus Institute of Medical Sciences on 4/11/25. But after bills kept rising, we had no option but to discharge him again on 6/11/25, paying ₹85,000.
Today, my son is lying at home, silent and unresponsive. I look at him every day and whisper,
“I want to take you back to the hospital, but I have no money left.”

I Am Begging to Help to Save My Child
My son urgently needs long-term neuro rehabilitation, nursing care, medications, and possibly shifting to a better hospital through air ambulance, which we cannot afford at all. I am a working woman, trying to feed my family and hold everything together, but I have reached my limit.
I am folding my hands in front of you and asking from a mother’s heart; please help save my Rishav.
Whatever you contribute will go directly towards his treatment, rehabilitation, and medical support. Even sharing this campaign can give my son a chance to live.
