Story

My name is Yasaswini. I am 23 years old, and I am fighting Myeloid Leukaemia, an aggressive form of blood cancer that attacks the bone marrow and stops the body from producing healthy blood cells. Just a few months ago, I started feeling extremely weak and breathless. I thought it was because I was overworking, trying to manage everything at home. But when the doctors ran detailed tests, our world collapsed. At the time of diagnosis, only 4% healthy blood was left in my body. My blood levels had dropped to a critically dangerous stage, and my immunity was almost gone. The doctors told me that I needed immediate treatment to survive.

Since then, my life has completely changed. Chemotherapy has been very painful and exhausting. My whole body is covered with severe rashes that burn with every movement. I have skin infections that refuse to heal because my immune system is extremely weak. My stomach hurts constantly due to the heavy medications. My hair falls out in clumps whenever I touch it. I cannot sit comfortably, and I cannot lie down peacefully. Even sleeping feels difficult on most days. The treatment that is meant to save my life is also physically draining me, but I continue because I want to live.

Three years ago, my father left us after years of violence at home. My last memory of him is seeing him beat my mother before walking away and abandoning us. From that day, I knew I had to become strong. I became the breadwinner for my mother, Lakshmi Katyayani, and my younger sister. While people my age were building their careers and dreaming about their future, I was working to keep food on our table and to ensure my sister could continue her studies. Every rupee I earned was for my family. I never complained because they are my strength.

Today, all my savings are gone. Every single rupee I worked so hard to earn has been spent on my initial treatments. Doctors at Sindhu Hospital have advised that I urgently need continued chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, which is critical in treating Myeloid Leukaemia. Without the transplant, my chances of survival are very low. The cost of this treatment runs into lakhs, and we simply cannot afford it. My treatment has already been delayed by one month because I could not arrange the funds. The doctors have warned that if there is any further delay, my condition can become critical and life-threatening.

I am not afraid of fighting this disease. I am afraid of leaving my mother and sister alone after everything we have survived together. I still have dreams. I still want to work again, support my sister, and give my mother a peaceful life. But right now, I cannot do this alone. I need your help to continue my treatment and undergo the life-saving bone marrow transplant. Your support can give me a chance to live and to stand strong for my family once again. Please help me fight this battle and save my life.
