Story

She was only a little girl when she lost both her parents. In a moment, her childhood was replaced with silence, uncertainty, and questions no child should ever face. There was no one to guide her future, no assurance that she would continue school, and no clarity about who would stand beside her. In her small tribal village, people wondered whether she would ever study again or quietly disappear into hardship like many other vulnerable girls.

When we first met her, she carried pain in her eyes but also a quiet strength within her. We did not know what she would become. We did not know whether she would excel in studies or discover hidden talents. But we believed in one simple truth: if given education and consistent support, a child’s destiny can change. Through sponsorship assistance, we ensured her school fees were paid, her books were provided, and her daily educational needs were met. Slowly, she began to grow in confidence. She worked hard in her studies and discovered exceptional talent in sports. Today, she is not only academically bright but also a national-level player, proudly representing her abilities beyond her village. These are my children, and I am deeply proud of each one of them.

Her story is not an isolated miracle. It reflects the mission of the Jehovah Jireh Foundation, a secular non-profit organisation serving vulnerable tribal communities since 2017 across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. Our mission is to nurture and empower fatherless, orphaned, and semi-orphaned children, especially girls, by ensuring they have uninterrupted access to education and holistic development.

In tribal regions of India, the girl child remains one of the most vulnerable members of society. Many children enrolled in our programme have lost their fathers due to illness or other causes. Mothers, left as sole breadwinners, are often illiterate and lack skills for sustainable employment. In some heartbreaking situations, mothers have abandoned their children, leaving elderly grandparents to struggle as guardians. For these families, survival comes before schooling, and education becomes fragile and uncertain.

Through our Tribal Girl Child Education Project, we currently support 40 children in remote tribal villages by providing monthly financial assistance to ensure their schooling continues without interruption. Alongside this, every year we organise free school kit distribution for orphan children in all three states. These kits include school bags, notebooks, pens, and essential learning materials – simple items that make a powerful difference in a child’s confidence and continuity in school. What may seem small to us becomes life-changing for them.

Beyond education, we also work towards strengthening families. We support orphan mothers and guardians with livelihood opportunities such as starting petty shops, small home-based businesses, and kitchen gardens. This empowerment helps families generate income with dignity, ensuring children are not forced to drop out due to financial pressure. Over the years, we have also conducted COVID-19 relief programmes, winter blanket distributions, health and nutrition camps in tribal villages, support for destitute elderly individuals, and holistic child development initiatives focused on life skills and creativity.

Our vision is clear and heartfelt: “Let the girl be educated and shine in this world.” We have witnessed transformation from uncertainty to achievement, from grief to confidence. Yet our work remains limited due to lack of sustainable funding. At present, only 40 children are under our care, while many more wait for support.

Today, I humbly invite you to join us in this journey. Your support can help provide school kits, monthly educational assistance, and stability to orphaned children who deserve a chance to dream. Together, we can educate a girl, uplift a family, and transform an entire community. And perhaps, the next national champion or scholar is already waiting just for someone to believe in her.
