A School Striving to Secure a Better Future for 250 Young Lives

My name is Ajit Bhoje, and I am a teacher at the Morarji Desai Residential School, Pattankudi Taluk, Chikodi District, Belagavi, Karnataka. This school was started by the Karnataka Government in 2016 with one clear purpose; to uplift socially and educationally backward students through quality residential education. Today, our school is home to 250 students, including 125 girls and boys each, all coming from underprivileged rural backgrounds.

A Residential School in a Rural Reality

Our school is located in a remote rural area, where opportunities are limited and challenges are many. For most of our students, this school is not just a place of learning, it is their safe home, support system, and hope for a better future. The government has supported us with basic facilities, and we have utilised every fund responsibly and transparently to build what we have today.

Despite our best efforts, government funding is limited and does not fully cover the growing needs of our students. While academic subjects are part of the curriculum, we lack essential infrastructure to teach them effectively. Our students study Computer Science, but we do not have computers. They study Science, but we do not have a proper science laboratory to help them learn practically.

Learning Should Be Practical, Not Just Theoretical

As teachers, we believe education should go beyond textbooks. Our children are curious, talented, and eager to learn by doing, whether it is experimenting in a science lab or gaining digital skills through computer education. Unfortunately, due to the absence of labs and equipment, we are forced to limit their learning to theory, which affects their confidence and future opportunities.

The Need for a Proper Playground

Physical development is as important as academic learning. Our students love sports and outdoor activities, but we do not have a proper playground with safe and structured facilities. A well-developed playground would not only promote health and discipline but also help students explore sports as a pathway to growth and self-confidence.

We Are Asking for Your Support

We have tried every possible avenue and have reached the limit of what government funding can provide. Today, we are reaching out with hope; to people who believe in equal education and brighter futures.
