Story

On September 27, 2025, Hyderabad faced one of the most devastating floods in recent history. Following relentless heavy rains and the sudden release of water from the Himayat Sagar and Osman Sagar reservoirs, the Musi River overflowed, submerging low-lying areas within hours. Neighborhoods such as Moosarambagh, Chaderghat, Afzalgunj, Bandlaguda Jagir, and parts of Secunderabad were inundated. Families were given barely an hour to escape, leaving behind homes, belongings, and memories. The city was transformed overnight, as streets turned into rivers and homes disappeared under floodwaters.

Approximately 1,500 people were evacuated and shifted to 10 relief camps set up in schools and community halls. Nearly 170 families lost their homes entirely. Children slept on cold floors, parents worried about food and safety, and daily-wage workers and small shop owners saw their livelihoods vanish in an instant. The Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station, a major transportation hub, and key city roads were submerged, disrupting travel for thousands. As the waters receded, stagnant floodwater and debris posed serious health risks, including vector-borne diseases, adding another layer of urgency to the relief efforts.

To help these families survive and rebuild, there are urgent and ongoing needs:

  1. Food and clean drinking water for displaced families

  1. Medical aid, including medicines, first aid, and disease prevention

  1. Clothing and blankets for children and adults in temporary shelters

  1. Materials and support to reconstruct homes destroyed by the flood

Financial support and resources to help restore livelihoods, especially for daily-wage workers and small business owners

Every contribution, no matter the size, brings hope to families who have lost everything. Immediate support can provide food, water, medical care, and safe shelter, while long-term assistance can help rebuild homes and restore livelihoods. By supporting this campaign, you are not just donating - you are giving families a chance to reclaim their lives, restore dignity, and rebuild their futures.

Thousands of families in Hyderabad are currently living in fear and uncertainty. Children shiver on the floors of relief camps, parents struggle to provide even basic necessities, and their future is hanging by a thread. Your donation can be the difference between despair and hope. You can help them recover, rebuild, and regain stability.
